This list of Canada’s top colleges and universities was compiled by the US News and World Report. This news magazine not only comes up with the top schools in the United States but all over the world as well. A unique methodology was used in coming up with this list. The ranking indicators used to come up with the ranking were academic peer review, employer review, student-faculty ratio, citations per faculty member, international faculty, and international students.
For the first indicator, a survey was conducted to determine the quality of a school, according to academics. For the second indicator, employers were surveyed regarding the quality of the graduates of the schools. This indicator weighed 10% of the total score while the first weighed 40% of the total score. The fourth factor measured the amount of research done by faculty members. Citations involved referrals to work of the teachers that have been published. More citations indicated that the published work is outstanding.
As for the last two factors, it is considered impressive if the school attracts the best students and teachers from all over the world. This speaks of globalization and the school’s goal to be the best in the academe today.
