Interested in furthering your education career?

There’s never been a better time to learn about online doctoral degrees in education.

You’ve come this far.  Are you ready for the challenge offered by getting your doctorate in education?  If you are, but you’re concerned about the huge commitments of residency and teaching fellowships, it’s time you started learning about the other options available through online doctoral degrees in education.

That’s right–I said online.

You can now study for your doctorate entirely, or primarily, online.  Some online doctoral degree programs do have limited residency requirements; these may be a couple of weeks over the summer or a few 4-day sessions.  But some have no residency requirements whatsoever.  And most online doctoral degrees in education don’t require you to participate in a teaching fellowship.  That can translate into higher overall costs for the degree, but it’s worthwhile if you’re in a job that you don’t want or can’t take time away from.

How else are online doctoral degrees in education different from traditional doctorates?

Actually, online degrees differ very little from traditional degrees other than the advantages of distance learning.  Because of the necessarily high standards that a doctorate program requires of faculty, most online doctoral programs are offered not by strictly online institutions but by those with traditional on-campus programs as well.  You’ll still participate in research oriented coursework that requires depth of knowledge and encourages specialization, and you’ll prepare a dissertation in programs for online doctoral degrees in education just as you would in any other doctoral program.

Who is a good candidate for an online doctoral program?

The same things that make you a good candidate for a traditional program, basically.  Strong research and writing skills, passion for your field, and motivation to succeed, as well as a good GMAT score and a strong previous education.
